Social media can play a place in businesses and it is has been very successful in many. However some employers are worried that by introducing social sites such as Twitter and Facebook into the workplace it gives employees the chance to “bunk off” work. Instead of concentrating on work and promoting the company some have been caught messaging friends and relatives and getting their Twitter fix courtesy of the companies time. This led to some employers blocking sites such as this and while business improved the moral in the workplace suffered.

Since 2006 social networks have boomed. Since 2006 sites such as Facebook and Twitter have gained enormous growth and when used correctly it can do the same for companies. With the growth of mobile phones in the last couple of years social networking is becoming easier than ever and has even led to some companies banning the use of mobiles for personal use in the work place.
